WWT National Wetland Centre Wales Photography Workshop

Join professional photographer and lecturer, Andy Davies, at the picturesque National Wetland Centre near Llanelli for a memorable day learning the essentials of creative digital photography. This Wildfowl and Wetland Trust's reserve comprises 450 acres of lakes, scrapes, pools, streams and lagoons that adjoin the salt marsh and shore of the Burry Inlet.

Andy will provide hands-on expert tuition to small groups covering a number of techniques and subjects. The lagoons nearest to the estuary are where birds gather in the greatest abundance, including black-tailed and bar-tailed godwits, curlew, pintail, shelduck, shoveler, snipe and teal. There is also a large collection of resident birds from all over the world guaranteeing excellent photographic subjects all year round.

This workshop caters for all skill levels, from complete beginners to aspiring professionals. Hands-on expert tuition is provided to small groups who are initially taken back to the fundamentals of photography, rapidly progressing to having full creative control of either digital compact cameras or digital single lens reflex cameras (DSLRs) with interchangeable lenses.

We meet for an introductory talk and the day is then spent photographing at various locations within the reserve, periodically returning to to the Centre for review of pictures on the computer. There is an excellent cafe where we will have lunch. Instruction is informal and conducted as we work our way around the reserve. There is plenty of time throughout the workshop for one-to-one tuition when topics of your interest can be explored. News and images can be found on Andy's Facebook page here.
