Trips begin in May when the breeding season for the puffins, guillemots, razorbills and Manx shearwaters is in full swing. The first three of these species are known as auks and the vast majority of these gather during in the evening flying around in vast gyres of birds before settling down in vast rafts in the sheltered bays of the island. Skomer has an estimated Manx shearwater population of 640,000 birds which is believed to over half the World's total number. |
We will meet at 7pm at the jetty in Martins Haven. We then board the Dale Princess at 7pm and spend time in South and North Havens before venturing out into St. Brides Bay to capture the stunning spectacle of the vast Manx shearwater rafts that form towards dusk. We return to Martins Haven at 10pm.
Numbers on this trip are limited to allow plenty of room to be able to move all around the boat. This trip is targeted at princially at gaining great photographic opportunities .
