Throughout the day, my photographs improved as I experimented more with new skills that I was taught. We started off on the Eight-arch Bridge, taking landscape shots of the lake where I focused on using different exposures and white balances. Even simple things, such as how to hold the camera comfortably, really helped me in taking some great photos.
Further along, we found another part of the lake (on our hunt for otters) where the reeds in the water and the bridge in the background made it a perfect opportunity to experiment with having different layers and levels. Our next stop was the woodlands; here, the twisting path cutting through the garlic plants made a great shot to show a leading line. I also began to get some really effective close-up shots.

As the day moved on, we looked at wide angle close ups of flowers, and I managed to get some of my favourite shots here. I especially liked the way that the lighting from behind gave the stems a ‘glow’. By the end, I was extremely pleased with the results I achieved and the day itself was thoroughly enjoyable. We even got to see the otters afterwards! |
