My day on Skomer was a really enjoyable. Andy knows his stuff and despite having many years of photography under my belt I certainly learned a thing or two.

Early in the day was disappointingly misty but Andy said it would clear up and around lunch time it did. Apart from the photography side, it’s extremely useful to have a guy such as Andy who knows the island so well.

The clear stars of the day were the Puffins. I’ve waited a long time to see these birds nesting and I was not disappointed. They’re colourful, chute, photogenic and comical all at the same time. Overall, I’m pleased with my images from the day although I didn’t manage to get any good shots of Puffins in flight – I shall be going back to get those!
